APPLICATIONS COMMENTED UPON UNDER PC POLICY

Eardisley Sawmills Site – Email from Andrew Banks, Planning Officer, HCC. Decision to exclude affordable housing from the proposed development scheme.

‘Further to my email below, the Planning Group of EGPC has met to discuss the above proposed development referred to in Section 9.1, Policy MD1 (f) of the Neighbourhood Development Plan.

As there is strong feeling regarding any dilution of the proposals as adopted in the NDP, EGPC has asked me to pass on the following response:

Provision of affordable housing as part of any proposed developments with more than 10 houses is clearly stated in Policy H1, 8.2.5. The target of 35% would, therefore, equate to 9 such houses in a development of 25 as per The Old Sawmills Site. For this reason, EGPC would not be prepared to support a proposal to remove the requirement for affordable housing.

Concern was also raised about the mixed use site and proximity of proposed housing to the industrial units extant.’

NB: At present the above exchange has been conducted directly by email with HCC Planning Officer, Andew Banks, rather than as a direct response posted on the Planning Portal.
